What to Expect
From Your Sleep Study
A home sleep test is simple, comfortable, and takes just three nights. Here's everything you need to know.
Before Your Study
Your Doctor Orders the Test
Your healthcare provider determines that a home sleep test is appropriate for you based on your symptoms and medical history.
You Receive Your Device
Depending on your doctor's office, you'll either pick up the device during a visit or have it mailed to your home with prepaid return shipping.
Download the App
Download the Celeste+ app on your smartphone. This app will guide you through the process and sync your sleep data automatically.
Review the Instructions
Watch the short instruction video and read through the quick-start guide. The device is simple to use—most patients are ready in under 5 minutes.
During Your Study (3 Nights)
Night 1: Getting Comfortable
Put on the wrist-worn device before bed. It's lightweight and comfortable—most patients forget they're wearing it after a few minutes.
Sleep Normally
Sleep in your own bed, on your normal schedule. There's no need to change your routine. The device works while you sleep.
Automatic Data Sync
Each morning, open the app near your phone. Your sleep data syncs automatically via Bluetooth. You'll see a confirmation that the night was recorded.
Repeat for 3 Nights
Wear the device for three consecutive nights. This multi-night approach captures the natural variation in your sleep and provides more accurate results.
After Your Study
Return the Device
If you received the device by mail, drop it in any mailbox using the prepaid label. If you picked it up in-office, return it at your next visit.
AI Analysis
Your sleep data is analyzed by advanced AI technology, looking for patterns in your breathing and oxygen levels throughout each night.
Physician Review
A board-certified sleep specialist reviews your study and creates a detailed report with diagnosis and recommendations.
Results Discussion
Your doctor receives your results within 48-72 hours and will contact you to discuss the findings and next steps.
Tips for a Successful Study
Follow these simple tips to get the best results from your home sleep test.
Sleep in Your Own Bed
The advantage of home testing is that you sleep in your natural environment. This gives more accurate results than sleeping in a lab.
Keep Your Normal Routine
Go to bed at your usual time, follow your normal bedtime routine, and wake up when you normally would.
Avoid Alcohol
Try to avoid alcohol the night before and during your study, as it can affect your sleep patterns and breathing.
Charge Your Phone
Make sure your phone is charged so the app can sync your data each morning. Keep it within Bluetooth range (same room).
Remove Nail Polish
If wearing the device on your finger, remove nail polish as it can interfere with the oxygen sensor readings.
Don't Worry About Perfect Sleep
It's normal if you don't sleep perfectly. The test captures whatever sleep you get—that's the whole point of testing at home.
Common Concerns
We understand you might have questions. Here are answers to common concerns.
?What if I don't sleep well during the test?
That's okay! The test captures however you naturally sleep—that's actually more useful than forcing yourself to sleep "perfectly." Most people with sleep apnea have issues throughout the night, even on nights they feel they slept poorly.
?Is the device uncomfortable?
The Celeste+ device is a small, lightweight wrist-worn monitor—similar to a fitness tracker. Most patients report forgetting they're wearing it after the first night.
?What if I need to get up during the night?
No problem! The device continues recording. Just wear it whenever you're sleeping. Brief wake periods are normal and expected.
?Can I take my regular medications?
Yes, continue taking your regular medications as prescribed. However, if you take sleep aids or sedatives, discuss with your doctor whether to take them during the study.
